For one semester I studied abroad in Taipei, Taiwan at National Chengchi University (NCCU), Taiwan’s premier social science university. In addition to improving my Mandarin to a professional working proficiency, I also took classes ranging from economic and social change in Taiwan, to the economics of Fairtrade, to Japanese foreign relations.
For 5 weeks I lived and worked on an organic farm in Modena, Italy. In addition to learning the techniques and labor required to operate a truly organic farm, I also experienced the economic and social challenges that small, organic farms face in Italy and worldwide.
